World Social Justice Day, 2021

Today 20th February 2021  we are commemorating World Social Justice Day  and the theme of World Day Of Social Justice 2021 is "A Call for Social Justice in the Digital Economy" World Day Of Social Justice is observed every year on February 20. Social justice refers to equal opportunities, distribution of wealth, healthcare facilities and privileges within a society. In Nyalenda B Social and Health Justice Centre wish to bring to the attention tribulations and injustices Kenyans are facing from our very own government. The government has failed to resolve perennial strikes by Healthcare workers, Stock-outs of Medicine, lack of proper medical care in emergencies, corruption access to information, inclusivity in processes and many others.
And yet Article 43 (1) (a) of the Constitution provides that every person has the right to the highest attainable standard of health, which includes the right to health care services, including reproductive health care.
Article 43 (2) also provides that a person shall not be denied emergency medical treatment.

And for the first time in our history the right to access information is contained in the bill of rights of the Constitution. Article 35 guarantees every citizen the right to „information held by the State‟ and any „person‟ that is „required for the protection of any right or fundamental freedom‟.

Let's ask our selves do the very powers or individuals entrusted by citizens practice it in black and white. Let's remind ourselves our duty and responsibility

#Justice4Atieno #Noretreat #NoSurrender

No! Men let's gather here for a moment
Last year Atieno, then 6yrs, was defiled by a cousin aged 19yrs. The mother sought for justice against the wishes of the larger family who eventually sneaked the defiler away.

This month Atieno has been defiled again by another cousin aged 21yrs. This time we managed to secure arrest of the perpetrator. The matter is in court, and the perpetrator in remand.

Now, the family, is all up against Atieno's mother - the husband, and father to Atieno included. Courtesy Collins Kodhek - Kondele Community  Social Justice  Center, Kisumu Kenya
