@AnyangNyongo #KisumuCountyDialogue #communityengagement @communityparticipation
Interventions on disease epidemics such as #HIV ,#TB and #Malaria can not be won inside treatment rooms. Advocacy
platforms are not treatment rooms or traditional ceremonies. This are open spaces for community /Citizen engagement with policy holders/duty bearers.They provide opportunities for stocktaking on
accountability as well as update stakeholders,provide leadership,facilitate guidance and formulate/improve policies from issues raised by affected,infected and concerned communities on crosscutting issues on how best they can
be implemented
.
Some medics have a mindset that by prescribing medicines they hold the key to reduce infections .It is very rare/difficult particularly in Africa getting the so called expert engaging people at community dialogue forums to give expert opinion. .All diseases require a multifaceted//multidisciplinary or all inclusive approach for interventions that are social in particular education on prevention strategies ,economic empowerment as well as political goodwill .
Taking HIV as an example #Biomedical interventions have not been so successful looking at new infections among young people. Taking a closer look new infections among young people/adolescence it more to do with none disclosure and the social environment in the house ,community and schools.This requires an all in campaign and need for a paradigm shift to accept new and innovative ideas In fact it has only continued to drain the much needed resources .Structural interventions work better using rights based approaches which are all inclusive than the know it all that are taking us nowhere.#giveinovationachance #dialogues give way to improve quality of life.

TB in Kenya as at now source WHO
The government promised our adolescents laptops and failed to deliver.roght now, They have been kept out of school for quite a long time and the laptops would have helped. in this desperate moments when the adolescents from Nyalenda B are advising the government on ways to make them learn are due to the fact that they have not been listened to leave alone providing them with spaces to explain their needs. Covid-19 is felt mostly by the communities but the goverment failed and are still failing in their promise to the next generation.

Fleecing of parents in Education sector in Kenya
The cartels in Education sector will one early morning close all schools in this country. That you buy a two inch mattress at Sh. 2,550 at school instead of sh. 1750 at any outlet. Double receipting for school fees to further confound the unsuspecting parent at Ng'iya Girls. At Sirembe Mixed, they charged a poor boy in advance for a hair cut to be done within school, sh. 50, instead of sh.20 at any other barber shop. A bucket going for sh.210 within school comparing with sh. 130 at any retail shop. A whooping sh.18,000 for items to be collected in school (school uniform) and a minimum of sh. 37,000 for first term school fees. Less than that, you must go back home with your daughter. I have admitted 11 girls and 14 boys into various schools across Siaya County to begin their secondary school education. I have lost a lot of money that I could save and reallocate to other things had I to purchase non scholastic materials from other retailers. Copied from Peter Akelo
