ERICK 0KIOMA

I am 53 years old, living in Kisumu Kenya, HIV positive, married and a father of three boys and a girl aged 20, 19, 15 and 5 years respectively. I knew my status in October 2003 Currently I am a member of Victory Post Test Group and Nelson Mandela TB and HIV information Community Based Organization which are community based organization founded in the year 2004 and 2014 respectively whose membership comprises of infected and affected of HIV/AIDS. The post test group is hosted by Liverpool VCT, Care and Treatment premises in Kisumu at Tivoli centre I have previously worked for the civil service1982-2000 (18 years), the last 15 years (2000-2016) , been serving the community as a member and coordinator of group on voluntary basis in advocacy communication and social mobilization on HIV/AIDS, T.B ,Malaria and HIV/TB prevention research advocacy in Nyanza Region. I have mentored, involved , mobilized, sensitized and recruited and referred youths/community to build their capacities by involving them through participatory approaches in activities like World Aids Day, international Aids Candle Light Memorial and International Woman’s Day etc for the last 12 years I have Participated in the review of Kenya national aids strategic plan (KNASP) II (2005-2009) and validation and development of KNASP III (2009-2013) and the current Kenya AIDS Strategic Framework representing PLWHA’s .Currently I serve on Community Advisory Board HIV Research (CDC /KEMRI) representing PLWHAs, Constituency Aids Control Committee (Kisumu Central) representing CSO’S, National Coordinator Aids Candle Light Memorial Kenya and Kenya Aids NGO Consortium Nyanza CSO Representative
